NEWS Exelby excited about 2008 Renmark A grade coach Brett Exelby is excited about the upcoming 2008 season. The Rovers players have been put through a tough training regime by Exelby, Alan Coulter and Mark Guster this summer and are looking extremely fit. “Pre-season has gone very well,” Exelby said. “Alan and Mark have put the boys through their paces.” “The most pleasing part about is we’ve always had consistent numbers out there, especially the A grade squad. “They’ve all put the work in which is great and we’ve had an even spread of B grade and under 18 players too. “The attitude has been brilliant and there have been a lot of leaders stand up. “Everyone is pushing each other through.” The Rovers play an internal trial tomorrow night and this match will be followed by clashes with Onkaparinga Valley (home) and Ironbank (away), which is coached by Exelby’s brother. “We’re expecting three extremely good hitouts,” he said. “Onkas are extremely strong and are expected to finish up the top in the Hills League this year. “They’ve got a few ex-league players in their squad. “Ironbank has picked up four or five players and only lost one.” “Even if we lose all three we’re going to be better for the run against strong opposition.” Exelby has worked in closely with B grade coach Rob Searle and under 18 coach Joe Albanese over the summer. RENMARK'S NEW RECRUITS Simon Callahan – A very strong bodied, hard working player. He’ll be a good, consistent performer for us. Ben Wagnitz – A leader, strong bodied also, and beautiful skills and game sense. He’ll be a very important cog in our midfield. Jarrod Wiese – Great goal sense, a very handy small forward and also as a pinch-hitting on-baller. He’s the small forward we’ve been lacking for the past couple of years. Adam Bryant – Pure class. His skill level is extraordinary. He’ll be extremely handy as a genuine midfielder who can find space and hurt teams with his skill. |
